an independent record label

Submissions

If you are looking to sign a big record deal and have someone else start telling you how to run your career, then City Desk is not the record label for you.

However, if you are in a hard working, charismatic, rock and roll band with a focus on song writing and are hungry for a new approach to the music industry, then maybe we should talk.

Since this is a forward thinking record label, we do not want you to send us CDs. Instead, send us an email.

Here’s what we’re looking for in an email:

An interesting but brief description of the band. Let us know where you are coming from, where you want to go, and how you want to get there. I can’t emphasize this part enough: short and interesting!

A link to a site where we can listen to your 2-3 best songs. We’re not going to listen to your whole record, so if the link directs us to more than 2-3 songs, tell us which ones you want us to listen to. And don’t pretend you don’t know which are the 2-3 best. If that is actually true, than we probably don’t want to work with you anyway. Sites that work well for this sort of thing include Sonicbids, Myspace, Purevolume, and of course your bands actual website (don’t tell me you don’t have real website and you rely only on Myspace… oh, you kids have so much to learn…)

A decent band photo. One where you look like a rock and roll band, not like you just got home from your job at Best Buy.

Show history. Tell us where you are from. What is your hometown club? How many people do you draw there? Where else have you played? Have you traveled? Are there other areas where you draw well.

That is about it. It may take us a while to get back to you. We’ll try to respond to everyone. Feel free to follow up once, maybe even twice. Any more than that and you are probably just not getting the hint though.
